Warm-up activity: Flash Card

Students will be divided into several groups to compete. The teacher will show cards with photo about the traditions of the Spring Festival. Each group needs to answer the meaning of these cards. In the end, the teacher chooses the winning group.

 

 

Activity 1: Discussion

Students share their essays about their most unforgettable experiences at the Spring Festival in a small group. And each group needs to choose a reporter to present their experiences.

 

Activity 2: Group Work

After reading the texts below, students need to fill in the following table and discuss in groups.

Three students form one group. Each group need to answer the question “What do the three texts have in common?”. In each group, one student will read Tom Jenkins’s experience, one student will read Xu Gang’s experience, and one student will read Li Yan’s experience. Then, students will share their information about this question. One students need to report in class. After that, students can make a conclusion that the meaning of Spring Festival is the spirit of Family.

 

Homework:

1. Write a short paragraph about “How you think of the meaning of Spring Festival”.

2. Students should search information about Christmas on the Internet. Take some notes on their notebook, and share with their deskmates before the next class.
